Biography:
Zena was born on 25th May 1971 in Billinge, to her loving parents Catherine and Stuart. A sister to Stephen and Nichola, auntie to Laura and Connor, cousin and friend to many. She was a devoted mum to Chloe, Cameron & Alex, much loved Nanny Z to Jack and Maison.
She attended St Mary’s School, before going on to Notre Dame, where she excelled academically. Zena followed her own path and pursued hairdressing, a career she loved and quickly qualified in. Never one to stand still, she later decided to follow a new dream and trained as a nurse at Edge Hill University, dedicating her life to caring for others.
Zena was a hardworking and ambitious woman who rose through the ranks in her profession, earning a Master’s degree from Chester University in 2022 and becoming Deputy Divisional Director at Aintree, where she was respected, admired, and loved by colleagues.
In 1991, Zena met the father of her children, Mark beginning a chapter of life that would bring her the greatest joy — becoming a mum. Chloe arrived in 1994, followed by Cameron in 1997 and Alex in 1999. Zena and Mark married in 1998 in the church where her life would later be celebrated. Though life took them on different paths, together they created many happy family memories.
Above all else, Zena was a devoted and selfless mother. She gave her children everything — love, guidance, support, life lessons, and countless acts of generosity. Whether it was advice, encouragement, or the thoughtful gifts she so loved giving at birthdays and Christmas, Zena always made sure those she loved never went without. Her children will forever be grateful for the love and sacrifices she made for them.
Later in life, Zena found love again with Howard, and through him her family grew even bigger. She embraced Andrew, Sophie, Lucy, and little Harry with open arms and loved them as her own. Howard and his family meant a great deal to her, bringing happiness and companionship to her life. Their love was deep and devoted, and after Howard’s passing in April 2023, she carried that love with her always.
Zena had a passion for travel and a love of life. She treasured family, friendships, laughter, and making memories. She was someone people turned to — caring, strong, generous, and endlessly selfless.
In the face of illness, Zena showed extraordinary courage and bravery. She fought with strength and dignity, enduring so much without complaint, always thinking of others before herself. Even in her final days, her greatest concern was for the happiness and wellbeing of those she loved.
Zena was also a proud and loving Nanny to Jack and Maison, and it breaks hearts that she will not be here to watch them grow. But her family take comfort in knowing her love and guidance will remain with them always.
Zena leaves behind a legacy of love, kindness, strength, and devotion. She was a beloved daughter, sister, partner, mother, nanny, auntie, colleague, and friend whose life touched so many. Though deeply missed, she will forever live on in the hearts of those who knew and loved her.
Rest peacefully, Zena — reunited with those you have missed so dearly, and watching over your family with the same love you gave throughout your life. You will never be forgotten.
