Karl WallingerOctober 1957March 2024Karl Edmond De Vere Wallinger (19 October 1957 – 10 March 2024) was a Welsh musician, songwriter and record producer. He was best known for leading the band World Party and for his mid-1980s stint in the Waterboys. Wallinger's songwriting credits include the World Party songs "Ship of Fools", which was a Top 40 hit in the United States, "Way Down Now", which reached number one on the Billboard Modern Rock chart, and "She's the One", which was later covered by Robbie Williams and became a hit single.[1] Wallinger was a multi-instrumentalist, which enabled him to demo and record the bulk of World Party material as a one-man band. Val KilmerDecember 1959April 2025Val Edward Kilmer (December 31, 1959 – April 1, 2025)[1] was an American actor. Initially a stage actor, he found fame after appearances in comedy films Real Genius (1985) and later in the military action film Top Gun (1986) and the fantasy film Willow (1988). Kilmer gained acclaim for his portrayal of Jim Morrison in Oliver Stone's The Doors (1991). He starred in a variety of films, including the western Tombstone (1993) and the crime dramas True Romance (1993) and Heat (1995). In addition, he portrayed Batman in Joel Schumacher's Batman Forever (1995) and went on to appear in The Ghost and the Darkness (1996), The Saint (1997), The Prince of Egypt (1998), Alexander (2004), Kiss Kiss Bang Bang (2005), and The Snowman (2017). In 2022, Kilmer reprised his role as Iceman in Top Gun: Maverick, marking his final film performance. In 2015, Kilmer was diagnosed with throat cancer. He subsequently underwent a tracheal procedure that damaged his vocal cords, leaving him with severe difficulty speaking. He is also known for his performance as Monsieur Firmin in the West End cast of The Phantom of the Opera Savident created the role of Monsieur Firmin in the original production of Phantom of the Opera, which opened on 9 October 1986 at Her Majesty's Theatre in Haymarket, London.[1] He appeared as the renegade scientist Egrorian in a 1981 episode of the cult science fiction TV series Blake's 7.[2] He also had other television appearances in Danger Man, The Saint, Callan and Doctor Who. He played Doctor Meredith in The Remains of the Day.
